The ITRA Annual meeting was held at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds on March 20th, 2010. It was called to order at 2:45 PM by Greg Hersberger, President.
Greg called for nominations from the floor for the election.
Two people were nominated from the floor: Ron McCoy and Steve Auth.
Ballots were given to the committee to be counted.
Country Haven -- There was an open house in November which was well attended. The camp was full. ITRA got a lot of exposure. DNR had hoped to have it open by January 1st 2010 but that didn't happen. They have now decided not to hire a manager but have taken applications from vendors instead.
VIP rides. -- ITRA will be having some mini VIP rides across the state. We are not allowed to lobby but we do want to show the legislators what our parks have to offer the horsemen and how much they are used. The first will be held at Deam Lake on June 26th.
O' Bannon -- There is considerable logging going on and the trails will be disturbed. Always expect logging in the State Forest areas as that is there job - raising trees for logging. The money raised from logging does not go into the general fund. The purchase of Country Haven was done with money from logging. At the time Country Haven went up for sale, the state did not have the money to purchase it so another group purchased it with the understanding when the state raised enough money from logging, the state could purchase it from them. Clark and Yellowwood are also being logged so expect disturbed horse trails. Rumors are that when money is raised, thee will be Class A. sites in Clark.
Newport -- nothing new
Deam Lake -- Supposedly, during the winter, the reservation system was changed so 14 stalls will be available to rent to interior sites. Yvette is working with them to try to get the stalls properly set up in their system.
2009 annual meeting minutes were read by Greg. Motion to accept, Chris Eickleberry - second, Rob Brunnemer - passed
The treasure's report was given by Stacy Lowe. We have a balance of $11,938.21 with all bills paid except for today. Motion to accept - Sandy Branham - second - Bob McPheeters - passed
Prophetstown -- There is a movement among horse people in the area to try to have this park opened for horses. DNR is not co operating because by their rules and regulations, the park does not have enough area to allow horses. There are so many of the acres that cannot be counted - they may be wetlands, etc. Salomonie has only 700 acres but it was grandfathered in. We must remember we put the DNR in place to safeguard our land and they must go by the rules and guidelines set up to do this.
B & O - Karen announced 16 miles of trail has been purchased across Hendricks County. We will need help soon in putting in the horse trail.
Vandailia - Karen also announced that this trail will be expanding to the west. There are a few places on the existing trail that need to be repaired and she would like help on that
also.
Election -- Greg - president Yvette vice president
Arlene - treasurer Stacy - secretary
Directors elected:
Tony - Scotty - Reed - Ron McCoy - Steve Auth
Motion and second to adjourn
